The Fox and Hounds

A woman searching for focus after losing her brother found a second home at the Fox and Hounds in Tilehurst which has been nominated for the Great Place to Work award sponsored by Kingdom Rooms.

She said: “Last year I went to an event at the Fox and Hounds and loved the atmosphere and fantastic vibe. Having lost my brother earlier in the year I wanted to find a little job to have a focus.

“Little could I have imagined that this little job would have changed my world through Helen and Ian and their lovely family.

“I now class the Fox as my second home. They took me under their wing and gave me so many new opportunities to flourish.

“They are not only my employers, they are both my confidants and true friends.”

Through their support and management skills she has become confident in her job and has gained valuable experience and obtained her personal public licence.

“Most of all they believed in my youngest child who left school in September last year. They gave them opportunities that I never thought would be possible due to their neurodiversity.”

She said the pub gives everyone an equal opportunity to flourish with guidance and patience and professionalism.

“I never thought that I would be involved in some of the crazy fun things they set up for the local community either. They put on summer parties for the end of term. Australia Day, band nights, quiz nights and who knows what will be next! I love my job thanks to these amazing people and they deserve all the credit I can give them.”
