RSSL
An international, Reading-based food/pharmaceutical company “driving scientific excellence”, RSSL has been nominated for Putting Reading on the Map, sponsored by The Purple Turtle and Jacobs the Jewellers.
Their nomination said: “For nearly 40 years RSSL has been proud to call Reading home and even prouder to showcase it on the world stage.
“With four sites and a client base spanning over 70 countries, we’ve grown into the largest food/pharmaceutical laboratory in the UK, driving scientific excellence from right here in Reading.
“RSSL is not only advancing science – we are raising Reading’s profile as a hub for innovation, inclusion, and world-class research.”
In just the last year, they have launched five major new services, opened their cutting-edge Knight Building (taking their laboratory space to over 100,000 sq. ft.) and invested £1 million into expanding their capabilities.
“As we grow from 350 to 500-plus employees by 2026, our commitment to developing people and services puts Reading at the heart of international science and innovation,” they said.
“We’re helping shape the future of science. Our Innovation Hub supports start-ups with access to laboratories, equipment and expertise.”
Through apprenticeships, a Science Outreach Programme, and partnerships with Reading College and the Royal Society of Chemistry’s ‘Broadening Horizons’, they introduce STEM careers to young people and open the doors for the next generation of scientists, they said.
Their commitment to sustainability has earned them world recognition with leading awards.
“Beyond our walls, we share best practices with the University of Reading and suppliers to drive broader impact. At RSSL, we believe sustainable business is smart business. We're proud to champion practices that protect the planet for future generations.”
