Warren White

A man who literally lit up the town in a bid to raise funds for charities has been put forward for the Neighbourhood Champion award.

Warren White exemplifies the spirit of community service through his unwavering dedication to making Reading a brighter place for everyone,” said his nominator for the award sponsored by Reading Football Club.

“For many years, Warren transformed his home into a spectacular Christmas lights display that became a beloved community tradition,” they added.

“Families would queue eagerly to witness this magical array of lights, creating joy for children and adults alike during the festive season.

“Rather than simply providing entertainment, Warren used this annual display as a platform to raise vital funds for local charities, demonstrating how community spirit can drive meaningful charitable impact,” they added.

Warren’s commitment extends far beyond the Christmas season, said the nominator. He plays an integral role in organising Rally On The Common, raising money for charitable causes, “working tirelessly as part of the dedicated team that brings this significant community event to life”.

“What makes Warren truly exceptional is his humble approach. He performs countless kind gestures simply because helping others is in his nature, never seeking recognition or praise for his efforts,” said the nominator.

“Warren's impact on our neighbourhood has been profound and lasting. Through his Christmas display, charitable fundraising, and community event organisation, he has created opportunities for neighbours to connect, families to make memories, and local charities to receive crucial support.

“His dedication has strengthened the fabric of our community, making Reading a more compassionate and connected place to live.

“His selfless contributions have touched countless lives across our neighbourhood and beyond.”
