Pete Doyle
Musician Pete Doyle, “a quiet and humble force of good in Reading”, has been put forward for the Local Hero award, sponsored by Green Park.
His nominator added he is “always creating, always giving, and always looking for ways to lift others up through his music, energy and compassion.”
They added: “Pete’s lifelong love of music isn’t just a personal passion — he shares it generously with the community, bringing people together across generations and backgrounds. Whether he’s playing live, organising events, or supporting grassroots talent, Pete uses music as a way to connect people and spark joy.
“He’s also known for mentoring young people (he started Reading Rock Academy) and creatives, helping them grow in confidence and giving them a platform when others wouldn’t.”
They added: “Through his business skills, creative mindset, and huge heart, Pete is constantly dreaming up ways to make Reading a better, kinder place. He’s been involved in countless community projects, often behind the scenes, driven not by recognition but by a genuine desire to help others succeed. He gives his time freely, offers thoughtful advice, and always shows up when it matters most.
“Pete is also a champion of collaboration — someone who brings people together to make things happen, whether it’s for good causes, small businesses, or the creative arts,” they said.
“In a world that can feel rushed and transactional, Pete stands out for his authenticity, warmth and selfless spirit. He embodies what the Pride of Reading Awards are all about; making a real difference through kindness, creativity, and community.
“He never asks for the spotlight — but he truly deserves it.”
