A “family man” who has raised thousands for different Reading charities over 30 years has been nominated for the Neighbourhood Champion award sponsored by Reading Football Club.

Aftab Malik’s nominator said: “He deserves this award as he has raised money for lots of charities for 30 years.

“Being a family man with an ordinary job he always thinks of people who are less fortunate than him.

“He has walked on hot coals, abseiled, jumped with a parachute, It would be nice for him to receive this award to mark 30 years in September.”
