An “outstanding” career dedicated to inspiring people to care for nature has been nominated for the Climate Impact and Sustainability Award, sponsored by University of Reading.

For more than 25 years, Teresa Verney-Brookes, has inspired people to reconnect with nature through creativity, learning and hands-on experiences,” said the nominator.

Known to many as Professor Queen-Bee, Teresa uses a range of artforms as conduits to help convey complex issues about wildlife conservation and sustainability in silly, fun and accessible ways, making complex topics such as biodiversity and sustainable living engaging, accessible and full of hope.

Her work has inspired countless young people, families and community groups to value and protect the environment around them.

The nominator also highlighted Teresa's work with local charity, Nature Nurture, where she creates welcoming spaces that bring people together through outdoor learning, creativity and practical conservation projects.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside Teresa and witness the enthusiasm, professionalism and compassion she brings to every project,” the nominator added.

“She has a unique ability to unite communities and inspire people to take positive action for nature.”

Teresa’s impact extends far beyond the projects she leads, leaving a lasting legacy of confidence, curiosity and environmental responsibility.
