Graft Thames Valley
A charity helping people overcome barriers to employment for more than two decades has been nominated for Charity of the Year, sponsored by Cream Design.
For over 20 years, Graft Thames Valley has supported adults facing complex challenges including autism, ADHD, learning and physical disabilities, mental ill health, offending histories and long-term unemployment to gain the skills, confidence and opportunities needed to secure meaningful work.
“Employment changes everything,” said the nominator. “It reduces poverty, restores independence, improves mental wellbeing and gives people purpose, confidence and hope.”
Under the leadership of CEO Clare Hepburn, Graft has strengthened partnerships with local employers and expanded its successful work experience programme, giving people who are often overlooked the chance to demonstrate their abilities in real workplaces.
“These placements frequently become the bridge between years of exclusion and lasting employment,” the nominator said.
Despite being a relatively small charity, Graft has been praised for delivering life-changing outcomes across the Reading area through the dedication of its staff and volunteers.
“Graft consistently creates opportunities for people who have been excluded from the workplace, helping them realise their potential and build brighter futures,” the nominator added.
