Project Salama
A charity supporting survivors to live a life free from abuse has been nominated for the Charity of the Year Award, sponsored by Cream Design.
Project Salama has been recognised for providing a safe, inclusive and compassionate environment where survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence, honour-based abuse and forced marriage can rebuild their confidence and independence.
“Project Salama goes beyond crisis support,” said the nominator. “It offers practical assistance, advocacy, counselling, wellbeing activities and empowerment programmes that help people move forward with dignity.”
Through trauma-informed, culturally competent, and survivor-led support, the charity helps survivors overcome isolation, develop new skills and build brighter futures for themselves and their families, with support groups, workshops, creative activities, and one-to-one guidance.
“What makes Project Salama truly exceptional is its commitment to treating every individual with respect, understanding and compassion,” the nominator added. “The team works tirelessly to ensure vulnerable people are heard, supported and empowered, regardless of their background or circumstances.”
The impact of its work extends far beyond the individuals it supports, creating safer, stronger, and more connected communities for everyone.
“Their work has transformed countless lives, helping survivors find hope, resilience and a renewed sense of self-worth.”
