Nicole Sanderson
A choir director who has helped build a thriving musical community in Reading has been nominated for the Music Legacy Award, sponsored by Vale & West.
Nicole Sanderson, director and member of the management team at the Reading Community Gospel Choir, has dedicated years of her time and energy to helping the choir grow and flourish. Having joined the choir as a teenager, she has played a key role in its journey as it approaches its 20th anniversary next year.
“Nicole gives up so much of her free time to create resources, run rehearsals and organise events,” said the nominator. “The choir simply couldn’t function without all the hard work she has put into it over many years.”
Alongside her work behind the scenes, Nicole is often balancing family life, frequently bringing her young children along while helping to run rehearsals and events.
The choir has become a familiar and much-loved part of Reading’s cultural scene, performing at a wide range of events and bringing people together through music.
“I think she definitely deserves recognition for her efforts,” the nominator added. “Especially for creating a welcoming, friendly community and spreading joy through her work.”
