The Rock Academy

A charity helping young people build confidence and creativity through the power of music has been nominated for Charity of the Year, sponsored by Cream Design.

The Rock Academy empowers young artists across Reading through music education, performance opportunities and community projects designed to develop skills, confidence and self-expression.

“The Rock Academy is proud of their long-standing partnership with the Whitley CDA,” said its nominator, and has offered music technology holiday activities at the Whitley Community Cafe during each school holiday for over four years.

The Rock Academy has also been nominated for the Grassroots Music Award, sponsored by the Pride of Reading Awards.

Their long-standing Band Experience programme gives young people the chance to develop their own music and perform in front of audiences at venues and events across the area, including The Purple Turtle, Whitley Community Café, East Reading Festival and Hurst Show.

Alongside live performance opportunities, The Rock Academy works closely with schools to support musical development through one-to-one instrument lessons, group workshops, music technology classes and creative community projects.
