Deadlocked Escape Rooms

An independent escape room has been nominated for the Putting Reading on the Map Award, sponsored by Purple Turtle and Jacobs the Jewellers, after earning international recognition for what has officially been named the UK’s best escape room.

Charlie and James, creators of Deadlocked Escape Rooms, were recognised for creating The Reading Witch – a unique two-hour horror escape experience featuring live actors.

TERPECA, the Top Escape Rooms Project Enthusiasts’ Choice Awards, is voted for by experienced escape room players from around the world, each of whom has completed more than 100 escape rooms.

As part of the awards, The Reading Witch was officially voted the best escape room in the UK.

“This has put Reading on the international escape room map,” the nominator added. “It has encouraged visitors to come to Reading not only to play The Reading Witch, but to experience other escape rooms and spend money in the town.”

The achievement was praised as particularly significant for a small independent business competing on an international stage.

Through creativity, innovation and ambition, Charlie and James have helped showcase Reading to a global audience while contributing to the town’s growing reputation for entertainment and immersive experiences.

“An amazing achievement for a small independent business,” the nominator said. “They have truly put Reading on the map.”
