A hotel manager who has helped transform a Reading venue into one of the town’s leading social spaces has been nominated for the Hospitality Award, sponsored by Cherubs Floral Design.

José Monteiro is Food and Beverage Manager at Pentahotel Reading, “however, truth be told, he is much more than that,” his nominator said.

José has “enriched the life of Reading” by transforming Pentahotel into a “key social hub for the community.”

Responding to the growing need for welcoming, social spaces for the community, José has worked closely with several local groups and organisations, including People of Reading, Connect Reading, The Latin Vibe, L2 Dance, Reading Board Games Social, Reading Sober Social, Reading Young Professionals and InterNations.

José’s efforts extend beyond the four walls of the hotel, as he regularly helps to organise social dances, networking events and dating evenings, creating opportunities for people from all walks of life to meet and feel part of their local community.

“José is perceptive, innovative and generous,” the nominator added. “His commitment to both the social and professional life of Reading demonstrates exactly the kind of community leadership the town needs.”
