The “outstanding commitment” of a marketing assistant who has gone above and beyond her role to tackle loneliness among older people has been nominated for Employee of the Year, sponsored by Reading Buses.

In her job as Marketing Assistant at Twyford-based Blue Bird Care, Becca Ingram has been recognised for going above and beyond her daily duties and launching an inspiring community arts project that brings the care home’s older residents together.

The monthly ‘Conversation and Collage’ workshop is held at the Link Café, Wokingham, and provides a “a warm, welcoming space for local elderly residents to meet, connect, and collaborate on a shared piece of artwork.”

“What truly sets her apart is her deep empathy for those who cannot leave their homes,” said her nominator.

Recognising that the most isolated individuals are may ordinarily be left out of community projects, “[Becca] will personally arrange for custom art packs to be sent directly to their homes,”

“This thoughtful step ensures that everyone, regardless of their mobility, can contribute a piece to the final design,” her nominator added.

“Her dedication has brought joy, creative purpose and vital social connection to our local elderly population. She is a true asset to Twyford and Wokingham, and a perfect example of what a Pride of Reading winner should be.”
