Hamilton School

A school described where “every child is encouraged to be themselves and feel valued” has been nominated for School of the Year, sponsored by Educatering Solutions.

Hamilton School

Hamilton School, a coeducational special school in East Reading, has been recognised for its outstanding commitment to inclusion, compassion and creating an environment where its young people can thrive.

“The school consistently demonstrates that inclusion is not just something they talk about, but something they live,” said the nominator.

Hamilton’s commitment to equality and belonging is reflected in everyday life, from its pastoral support to the strong relationships staff build with pupils and families. Parents receive regular updates from tutors, while postcards celebrating achievements are sent home to recognise students’ progress and successes.

The nominator praised staff for “going above and beyond to build a culture of compassion and understanding.”

Their dedication helps ensure pupils feel safe, seen, and supported, while also helping families and the wider community feel welcomed and respected.

“Since my son joined three years ago, he’s gone from almost school refusing with low levels of education to enjoying school and looking to achieve GCSEs,” said the nominator.

The school has also been commended for listening to parents, embracing new ideas and encouraging students to engage positively with the wider community.

“The staff do their job for the children and not for recognition,” the nominator said. “But they deserve recognition for what they do.”
