A Reading institution where friendships are formed around a shared love of all things gaming has been nominated for Independent Retailer of the Year, sponsored by REDA and Reading BID.

Eclectic Games on Duke Street “has been providing a great community for people in Reading for over 20 years,” said the nominator. “Anyone is welcome at their board and card game events, and the staff genuinely love the hobby and give honest recommendations.”

Now celebrating its 20th year, the Eclectic has recently expanded with a new gaming space capable of hosting large numbers of players for its regular evening and weekend events.

The nominator also highlighted their popular monthly board game days, where visitors can spend an entire day playing games from a library of more than 2,000 titles, making it one of the most impressive community gaming collections in the area.

“There’s a really friendly atmosphere in the shop,” the nominator added. “It’s always fun to geek out with fellow gamers and the staff.”
