Citizens Advice Reading

A charity that has supported people across Reading through poverty, homelessness and social isolation for more than 86 years has been nominated for Charity of the Year, sponsored by Cream Design.

The “compassionate and person-centred team” at Citizens Advice Reading (CAR) have been recognised for the life-changing support they provide to anyone facing poverty, homelessness, debt, housing issues, social isolation and crisis, helping individuals and families find practical solutions and rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

“Citizens Advice Reading has become a cornerstone of support for people across the town,” said the nominator, “…ensuring people are not only helped through immediate difficulties but are also equipped to move forward with confidence.”

The nomination praised the charity’s dedicated staff and volunteers, who go above and beyond to ensure everyone is treated with kindness, respect and understanding: “What makes CAR exceptional is its people and their commitment to doing their absolute best for every single client,” they said.

In their strong partnership work with local organisations, businesses, schools, volunteers and statutory services, Citizens Advice Reading has successful maximised its impact ensuring support reaches those who need it most.

Their ‘Community Advice First Aid’ initiative was highlighted by the nominator for strengthening Reading’s network of care by helping organisations identify and respond to people in need more effectively.

“Their work has transformed countless lives, fostered stronger community connections and demonstrated the very best of Reading's community spirit…CAR's team is a truly deserving recipient of the Pride of Reading Award for the lasting and positive difference they continue to make across the town.”
