A Caversham bakery serving the community, as well as delicious sweets, has been nominated for the Business in Action award, sponsored by Boyes Turner.

Bkry, on Church Street, Caversham, has gone “above and beyond” to support local mental health charity, No5, and its work with young people across Reading.

“[They] are a shining example of a local, community-focused business in our area,” their nominator said. “And their cakes are delicious!”

The business has also taken part in the annual #BePurpleDay campaign to mark World Mental Health Day and hosted a memorial legacy walk in honour of someone who tragically died by suicide, helping to raise awareness and bring the community together in support.

Bkry is also continuing its partnership with No5 through plans to host baking and cooking lessons alongside Fink Street Food this autumn. The sessions will support young people on No5’s waiting list, helping ease their transition into adulthood while encouraging positive wellbeing through creative activities.
