A dedicated volunteer “making her local area a better place for all” has been nominated for the Neighbourhood Champion award, sponsored by Reading Football Club.

Ashton Massey has been recognised for her outstanding commitment to the community, giving her time, energy and creativity to support charities and local families across Reading.

As a long-standing volunteer with Parents and Children Together (PACT), Ashton plays a key role in delivering events, supporting communications and driving fundraising efforts that directly benefit local children and families.

Her enthusiasm and ability to build relationships with local businesses and supporters have helped secure vital backing for the charity, year after year.

“…Ashton has made a meaningful and lasting difference to countless people across the town,” said her nominator.

“Her commitment extends well beyond a single organisation. She generously gives her time and energy to support other charities and community initiatives in Reading, demonstrating a deep-rooted passion for making her local area a better place for everyone,” they added.

The nominator also praised Ashton’s “exceptional resilience and leadership” when challenges arise, reflecting on a recent event when catering arrangements fell through, she stepped in immediately to reorganise plans, support the team and confidently reassure guests, ensuring the event remained a success.

“Ashton exemplifies community spirit at its very best,” the nominator added. “She is generous, proactive and endlessly committed to supporting others. Her contribution to Reading is both significant and inspiring, and she truly deserves this recognition.”
