PACT (Parents And Children Together)
Nominated for Charity of the Year sponsored by Roc Search
A volunteer with PACT (Parents and Children Together) (PACT) has praised 'the wonderful work they do in our community'.
They added: “I started volunteering last year. This has allowed me to see how they support children, women and families to recover from trauma, difficult experiences and abuse.
“As a volunteer I have felt supported and appreciated and it has given me purpose and improved my wellbeing,” they said, nominating the organisation for Charity of the Year, sponsored by Roc Search.
They added a family member had received the charity's help and they had been able to see how they had become happier and had healed following a few difficult years,
At Alana House they support women who are having to deal with many issues. The group helps people get back on their feet and recover from abuse while supporting them to gain job skills.
Bounce Back 4 Kids helps children repair their relationship with the non-abusive parent. The nominator said: “This is a really special service and unique in Berkshire and sadly the need for this kind of help means the waiting lists are growing.”
The charity also provides a range of programmes for the families they create through their adoption services.
“The children for whom they find new permanent families have often had a difficult start to life and need help and support to recover and bond with their new loving families,” said the nominator.
“What I love most about PACT is how everything they do helps people recover form trauma and abuse and lead happier lives. That is very special.”
