Sadaka
A “remarkable, volunteer-led charity, Sadaka, plays a vital role in supporting individuals across Reading who are facing food insecurity and financial hardship”.
Each week, Sadaka, which has been nominated for Charity of the Year sponsored by Reading Today, provides free meals and food parcels to more than 100 local people, added their nominator.
They offer a vital lifeline to those who might otherwise go without. “Their work is about far more than food – it is about restoring dignity, building community, and creating pathways out of crisis. “Through initiatives like their employment programme, Sadaka empowers service users to gain confidence and basic employability skills, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
“What makes Sadaka so special is the warmth and inclusivity at the heart of everything they do.” The charity welcomes people from all walks of life, without judgment, creating a safe space where individuals feel valued and supported. “Their dedicated volunteers go above and beyond to make every person they serve feel seen and cared for,” they added.
Despite operating with limited resources, Sadaka has a profound and lasting impact, they said. “Their ability to deliver high-quality, compassionate services is a testament to the strength of their community spirit and unwavering commitment to helping others.
“They represent the very best of what grassroots charity work can achieve.”
