Parenting Special Children

Their outstanding dedication to supporting families of children with additional needs has brought Parenting Special Children a nomination for the Charity of the Year award, sponsored by Reading Today.

“Founded by Ruth Pearse, Parenting Special Children has become a lifeline for families navigating the complexities of raising children with autism, ADHD and related conditions,” said the nominator.

“Since its inception, the charity has offered tailored support, education,  and advocacy – empowering parents with the tools they need to help their children thrive.”

The charity delivers targeted workshops and support groups plus providing one-to-one services and specialist training for professionals.

“Parenting Special Children creates a compassionate, knowledgeable, and empowering environment. Their holistic approach not only supports young people and parents but also helps shape a more inclusive and understanding community,” they added.

“The impact of their work is immeasurable. Families who once felt isolated and overwhelmed are now part of a supportive network, gaining both emotional resilience and practical strategies.” The charity’s commitment to reducing stigma and promoting acceptance has transformed lives in schools, homes, and public spaces across Reading, said the nominator.

“Ruth and her dedicated team work tirelessly to build partnerships with other organisations, ensuring families are connected with the right services. Their ethos of collaboration and care has earned them immense respect within the local charity sector.

“For their unwavering commitment, deep compassion, and transformative impact on so many lives, Parenting Special Children is a truly deserving nominee for a Pride of Reading Award.
