A nursery nurse “has gone above and beyond for the families of Reading for many years,” said her nominator for the Chris Tarrant Award, sponsored by The Oracle.

Hayley Brazil “is full of empathy, compassion and ideas on how she can make life a little easier for parents, women and men. 

As a nursery nurse and a family support worker, through classes and courses and sharing personal blogs she “makes parents across our town feel they are not alone,” they said.

Hayley and a friend have set up Our Story & Co, an “incredible idea to support women locally” through various events and “where they go into the home and help families with whatever chores are feeling overwhelming to them. 

“She is a fountain of knowledge, always offering out free advice and help,” they added.

“She’s worked within Reading helping our community since the 90s and I think she is a true star! “There will not be many families within west Berkshire, Calcot and Tilehurst specially who haven’t heard of Hayley and all she does,” said the nominator.
