Paige Williams
A young woman who fought cancer as a child has been nominated as Employee of the Year by the day nursery where she works as an “outstanding” apprentice.
Paige Williams aged 22, has worked at Welly Boot Lodge Day Nursery since Covid.
“She underwent two separate cancer diagnoses as a child and gruelling treatments that left her body with secondary illnesses,” said the nominator.
“Paige uses her own experiences to empower children and she has been at work every day for four years even though she still has much to deal with healthwise.”
Paige has “fought tirelessly” to gain her Level 2 in childcare and has nearly completed Level 3. She works as a one-to-one for a disabled child “empowering this child to make outstanding progress and to give the child all the opportunities of the other children.”
The nominator added: “She has been an outstanding apprentice and we want her achievements to be recognised when many thought she wouldn’t be able to hold down a job.
