Faith Christian Group

For over 30 years, Faith Christian Group has been a lifeline to those facing homelessness, poverty and crisis, said their nominator for Charity of the Year sponsored by Reading Today.

They said their wide-reaching initiatives include Readistreet, providing hot meals and support five nights a week in the town centre; Readifood, which distributes over 150 food parcels weekly to families referred by schools and professionals; A Bed for the Night, which offers emergency winter shelter for the homeless and asylum seekers; and six Reading Pantries across the town, giving access to affordable food and essential household items.

“What makes this charity truly exceptional is its volunteer-led model, bringing together people from all backgrounds, including churches, schools and the wider community, to serve others with compassion and dignity.

“Volunteers not only prepare and distribute food and clothing but also offer friendship, warmth, and a listening ear—making each service user feel seen and valued.”

They added: “Faith Christian Group goes beyond emergency aid, focusing on restoring hope and dignity. They continue to meet urgent need while building long-term community resilience.

Their work embodies the very heart of what it means to serve Reading with kindness and integrity.”
