The Fox and Hounds
A much-loved Caversham venue that has become a thriving hub for local residents has been nominated for the Hospitality Award, sponsored by Cherubs Floral Design.
The Fox and Hounds on Gosbrook Road has built a “great community that reaches far beyond the pub,” said the nominator. “It brings together families, younger people and long-standing locals, creating a place where everyone feels welcome.”
The nominator highlighted the pub’s growing community, and its presence as a placed to gather for people across Caversham and the surrounding areas, particularly during the World Cup, when locals came together to watch matches, soak up the atmosphere and celebrate (and commiserate) together.
The pub was also praised for its support of the wider local area through activities including litter picks, community nativities, charity fundraising and involvement in local events.
“The staff are a big part of what makes it such a welcoming place,” the nominator added. “They are always friendly, approachable and make the effort to get to know the people who visit.”
More than just its craft beers and real ales, The Fox and Hounds is described as a place where people can meet, socialise and build lasting connections.
“The team have created an environment where people feel included and comfortable, and that has helped build a strong community around the pub,” the nominator said.
