An industry leading business “proudly headquartered in Reading” using its success to make a lasting difference to local charities, families and vulnerable residents has been nominated for Business in Action, sponsored by Boyes Turner.

Select Car Leasing, is the UK’s largest car leasing broker and has been recognised for its commitment to using business as “a force for good” in Reading for over 20 years.

“They go far beyond helping customers lease new cars and vans,” said the nominator. “They use their success, people and partnerships to support the organisations that make Reading a special place.”

As Principal Partner of Reading FC Community Trust, SCL helps support health, education and wellbeing programmes that reach more than 25,000 local residents each year, including donating a free minibus for youth pathway players.

To help tackle food poverty, they provide a fully maintained vehicle for Whitley CDA’s Surplus Food Project, allowing the volunteers to support up to 1,600 people every month across south Reading.

The nominator also highlighted the company’s championing of women and girls in sport through sponsorship of Reading FC Women’s first team, as well as its long-term partnership with No5 Young People, helping keep vital mental health counselling free and accessible for 11–25-year-olds.

Further support includes providing vehicle fleets for Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice and St Michael’s Hospice, helping nurses deliver end-of-life care in patients’ homes.
