Gudrun has recognised for her” incredible” work coordinating the Reading Climate Action Network (RCAN) helping make climate action feel practical, inclusive and hopeful for people across the town.

One of her most significant achievements has been coordinating the Reading Climate Festival, which this year featured more than 50 events across the town, including talks, film screenings, nature walks and hands-on workshops designed to help people connect with each other and with nature while learning practical ways to live more sustainably.

“Under her guidance, RCAN helped shape a brand-new Climate Emergency Strategy and Action Plan for 2026 to 2030, with more than 450 local people contributing their voices to build a shared vision for a happier, healthier, net zero Reading,” said her nominator.

“What makes Gudrun extra special is her ability to bring people together,” they added. “Her energy and warmth make climate action feel accessible and hopeful rather than overwhelming.”

Through her leadership, RCAN has created a strong sense of momentum and community participation around sustainability issues across Reading.

“Gudrun’s dedication is transforming how our town thinks and acts on climate change,” the nominator said. “She truly deserves recognition it – legend!”
