A youth volunteer “wise beyond his years” has been nominated for Volunteer of the Year, in recognition of his positive impact on young people at the Weller Centre, sponsored by AB Walker.

Craig ‘CJ’ Rolfe volunteers twice a week with the Weller Centre’s Youth Development Team, where he has become “hugely respected” by the young people he supports.

“Craig overcomes his own health issues to give his time and energy without fail and asks for nothing in return,” said his nominator.

At just 20 years old, CJ is described as “wise beyond his years,” with his own experiences with disabilities helping him connect deeply with young people. His patience, understanding and calm nature mean many feel comfortable opening to him and sharing their thoughts and concerns.

Alongside volunteering, CJ is also studying at Reading College and hopes to gain professional qualifications to further his career in youth work.
