The Stephens Family

The Chris Tarrant Award sponsored by The Oracle

Someone who lives or works in Reading who deserves special recognition.

Four people standing together at a family celebration event. The woman second from the left is holding a framed photo of a young boy, and the woman on the right is holding an award and a small bouquet of flowers. The background features a sign that says "The Stephens Family."

The parents of young teenager Olly Stephens, who was tragically murdered aged 13 in Reading in 2021, are working tirelessly to campaign for justice, to help bring in legislation around social media to protect children and to raise money for anti knife crime charities.

Despite a devastating personal loss, Amanda and Stuart Stephens are striving to protect other children.

The parents have continuously campaigned so that other people’s children are safe in the online space and in their communities.

Supporting causes across Berkshire, sharing their story with other families and constantly revisiting their pain, they are activists in the online safety space and supporters of all things that will help to prevent youth knife crime.
