ACRE, Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality

Nominated for Charity of the Year sponsored by Roc Search

Members of ACRE with the former mayor of Reading

A group that 'makes Reading a better place to live' has been put forward for Charity of the Year.

ACRE, the Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality, replaced Reading  Council for Racial Equality in 2012.

Its nominator said: “I've been fortunate to see firsthand what a safe and welcoming place ACRE is on the Oxford Road for our ethnically diverse communities and residents.

“Providing help and support since 2012 with everything from CV writing, help registering with GPs, translation, wellness including yoga and bingo, and always an obligatory cup of tea.

“Our diverse communities are the foundation of Reading. As George Matthew at ACRE says 'you can be on a bus and hear five languages being spoken, it’s an incredible thing to hear'.

“They make Reading a better place to live.” The award is sponsored by Roc Search.
