Manor Primary
A “warm, welcoming school” and its teachers have been nominated for School of the Year, sponsored by Qwerty, by a parent who praised the help they have given her child.
The parent said: “Manor Primary is a warm welcoming school who pride themselves in being nurturing and gentle towards the children and embracing their small school community.”
They added: “The head teacher, Mrs Swain, is the most loving headteacher I have come across. The SENCO, Mrs Baker, is understanding and supportive of all the children that need the extra care.”
And they added, emotional literacy support assistant Mrs Syrad “is patient and trustworthy to those working with her.
“Though this school deserves the School of the Year award for a more personal matter,” they added.
“My 10-year-old daughter moved to Manor in 2024 after being the victim of bullying and trauma.”
Manor, in Southcote, has provided her with weekly emotional literacy support sessions, massage therapy and helped obtain a diagnosis of autism.
“Their goal is to bring back her sense of security and mental wellbeing ahead of her transition into secondary school,” said the nominator. “I am so very grateful to them all for the input they have given to my daughter to bring back my little girl from the traumatic events before she joined them. Greatest primary school in Reading!”
