Natalie Higley and Nicky Stevens
Strong Women’s Club, a female-focused strength training gym in Caversham, has grown into a powerful community movement in just three years under the leadership of self-funded founders Natalie Higley and Nicky Stevens.
Their nominator for the Entrepreneur of the Year awards, sponsored by Rabbits Vehicle Hire, added they have gone from a small idea to a thriving business supporting over 100 women each week.
“Their mission? To change how women feel in their bodies, by creating a space where strength, education, and community come first.”
The nominator added: “What sets them apart is their deep commitment to inclusivity and impact. “From helping women build lifelong confidence through lifting, to recently expanding their support to young girls navigating their changing bodies, they are creating generational change.”
They said: “They’ve raised the profile of their business through grassroots growth, member-led success stories, and a clear purpose that resonates far beyond the gym.”
The club also works with other local businesses for their special events and to provide education for their members.
“They have also been successful in building a diverse community of women of different ages, athletic ability, ethnicity and life experience, who support each other and build friendships.”
The club has taken part in tractor pulls, assault courses, walks, paddle boarding as well as social events.
“Nicky and Natalie are passionate, purpose-driven entrepreneurs who have built something truly special — and Reading is stronger for it,” said the nominator.
