Recognises an employee whose contribution, behaviour or success has enhanced their company, or who has gone the extra mile for their customers.
Michael McGarry, an assistant community manager at an apartment community in Reading, set up a Neighbourhood Hero scheme to introduce local independent traders to flat-dwellers at the Ebb & Flow development in Station Hill.
The aim was to encourage them to spend their time and money in our local economy, with 52 ‘indie’ companies and services signing up.
He hosts pop-up events and markets to highlight local businesses and the wider community, offering space to community groups for learning/networking events, as well as raising money for the homeless charity Launchpad.
