Mary Dodds

Community Champion sponsored by Reading Football Club

A person who works tirelessly in their community, in the voluntary sector, as a carer, for a community group or in public service who devotes their time to others.

Four people standing together, three men and one woman, smiling at an award ceremony. The woman is holding a bouquet of flowers, and the man on the right is holding an award. A colorful background with the name "Mary Dodds" is behind them.

Mary Dodds, who started a local Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) group after the death of her husband from the illness, has been dubbed “awesome” for her dedication.

She formed the Reading and West Berkshire group “many years ago to give people suffering from MND, and their relatives and friends, a chance to meet others in the same boat, as well as providing help, support and comfort.

“From very humble beginnings the group is now a major part of local MND sufferers’ lives and Mary is at the forefront of everything.”
